Copper zirconium master alloy is utilized in the production of precipitation hardening copper alloys which are used for instance in electrical engineering applications.

When added to aluminium bronzes, zirconium improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.

CuZr serves as a grain refiner alloy in brass
CuZr serves as a precipitation hardening of alloyed copper
