Tests have shown that this ceramic is superior to alumina ceramics in the protection of light weapons ammunition and tail-stable armor-piercing projectiles, and its price is lower than that of boron carbide ceramics. Therefore, in recent years, developed countries such as the United States have developed them into bulletproof ceramic inserts instead of alumina (Al2O3) inserts for body armor equipment.
